Functions of Police and Village Defense of Union Parishad

The Government, from time to time, forms village police forces in rural areas as per the demand and the conditions of recruitment, training, discipline and employment are fixed by the Government. The village police exercise such powers and responsibilities as directed by the government. If it appears to the Deputy Commissioner that a union or part of it needs to take special measures for public safety and village defense, then the adult competent persons of the area are engaged in public protection in the manner mentioned in the order. When the order is issued, the Union Parishad exercises the powers and responsibilities mentioned in the order.
